During Lights On, a nationwide celebration of after school programming, students from Bluff Elementary After School program, staff, and community members had a chance to maintenance the shade structure which is located at the river walk to the San Juan River. The shade structure was built in 2012.
More than 30 kids joined this event and helped to clean up the area. This shade structure provides nice cool shade during summer walks to the river. With the kids helping, more people can recognize this project and keep it as a nicer place.
It’s much nicer after the all hard work. Thank you so much, the Bluff elementary school kids!
After the river walk, the kids came to our DBB campus and visited our latest project ” sky observation bench” which made by Hosei University students. This bench was designed by the inspiration of Navajo ceremonial basket. It is a very interesting connection between local kids and Japanese students. I hope this place will be a good place to remind us of the local culture and the beauty of the sky.
