Our days of building are winding down and there’s plenty left to do. Finish materials are going into place – panels are going up under the canopy, cabinets are going into the kitchen, a window went into the rammed earth wall, and soon we’ll have a front door.
With a little bit of improvisation and a little bit of luck, all of the pieces of the project are coming together. We’ve been able to salvage material from previous projects and take advantage of donations to make a tight budget and schedule work. The soffit material for the canopy is an assemblage of corrugated metal from the material ‘bone yard’ on the DBB campus, and we salvaged some sheet metal to finish off the canopy opening and the window in the rammed earth wall.
